Dollar Store Matchbox: PACKAGING

The Dollar Store Redesign project was a notable project within my university coursework. The assignment revolved around elevating the appeal of a commonplace item found in dollar stores by innovatively repackaging it to enhance its marketability.

The process included research, sketching, thumbnails, digitalization, printing, and construction.

The resultant innovation was strategically rooted in a sustainability-focused marketing approach, targeting demographics with a penchant for outdoor activities and recreational pursuits. Employing a deliberate minimalist approach, bold colors and typography were harmoniously integrated to distinguish the repackaged product from its counterparts on store shelves. The incorporation of an illustrated state park imagery served as a visual ode to the adventurous ideals of the target audience, reinforcing the product's appeal. To clearly communicate the message of the product, the information included on the back touches on the brand's sustainable model.

"With Match + you get the best of both worlds: the match that lights quickly and easily, plus the match that is made with respect for the environment. Our splints include wood from responsibly managed forest while our manufacturing repurposes scrap wood to generate the steam that heats our plants and powers equipment."
